Anyone experience disappearing batch numbers? - Answered.
« on: Thursday 29 November 12 04:22 GMT (UK) »
Just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed something like this. Several years back, I was tracing my tree back through the Birmingham area using the IGI batch number search technique on Familysearch.org. I found a marriage between William Rudge and Catharine Paine at St. Martin, Bham Jun 15, 1783. The batch number was unconventional, 7505734. I know I wrote this down correctly, because a fellow genealogist has it referenced on his web page. At some point in the last couple of years, this batch number has disappeared, along with the record of the marriage. I have tried to do some very general searches for this couple, and cannot locate them again. I plan on ordering the St. Martin Bap/Marr/Death records CD from BMSGH in the future. I am hoping that it will show up in the actual parish record. Just curious if anyone else has had batch numbers disappear on them. Happy digging! Scott.

Hi

It is on familysearch but it is a Patron Submission entry rather than Extracted from Parish Registers. It looks like Patron Submitted entries are not picked up on a general search

From the Home page of Familysearch scroll down to Browse by Location and select United Kingdom and Ireland

Scroll down and select International Genealogical Index (IGI)

Select Community Contributed IGI and then search for them, the marriage is there.

As it is a Community Contributed entry you should check the Parish Register to confirm it is correct

Andy.
