Thomas Flanagan
« on: Wednesday 28 November 12 19:23 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find the parent of Thomas Flanagan whose birth is recorded as:

Q1 1842    Liverpool Vol 20 Page 453

I can't find him on the 1851 or 1861 census returns and I don't know if he had brothers or sisters.

A long shot I know, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You may need to invest in a copy of his birth cert.  He could have been illegitimate

Whilst there is only one Thomas Flanagan birth registered in Liverpool or the surrounding area in 1842 there are two catholic baptisms at St Anthonys Liverpool for starters.

Thomas Flanagan born 28th March, 1842 baptised 17th April, 1842 Parents Andrew Flanagan and Lucy (Jones. Godparents James and Elizabeth Brady
Thomas Flanagan born 27th July, 1842 baptised 31st July, 1842 Parents Thomas Flanagan and Jane Welch.  Godfather Walter Welch and Godmother Mary Hill.

I think your friend will have to get his marriage certificate to determine who his father was.  Do you know who he married?

Regards,
Mo

Thanks for all the help you've given us.

We now have something to work on, and you say I need to invest in a birth certificate to be sure.

Thanks once again.

Someone on the Forum of www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk is looking for the same person. They have been given the same findings.
