Looking for help with Minnie Richards
« on: Tuesday 27 November 12 22:00 GMT (UK) »
Looking for parents of Minnie Richards born July 21, 1874 in Redruth.  She married John Bartle who according to US census records was born in New Jersey but his parents were from England (possibly John Bartle married to Mary Opie?).  According to her obituary, she came to America and settled in Ishpeming, Michigan in 1900.  I would greatly appreciate any help that can be given!  Kim

Minnie with parents George and Mary is still in Cornwall in 1891. Siblings are William 12,  Catherine 9, George 7, Sydney 4 and Emily 6 months. Living in Poll Lane, Redruth.

She isn't with them in 1901 and I cant see her anywhere else so looks as if it may be the correct one.

It looks as if Minnie and John married Dec. Qtr. in 1894 Redruth. The marriage cert would give you her father's name.

I think I see Minnie and son William departing on the New York (going to New York) from Southampton on Mar 17 1900 (on FMPast) but I can't find the subsequent arrival on A*try.

Minnie and william arrived in US in time to appear on the 1910 census with John. Living same place as on 1910 census, Ishpeming Ward 3 Marquette Michigan, and says married 5 years and again John born in New Jersey.

Either ancestry or my computer is on a go slow so I can't see the original image, only the  transcript where the surname is mangled.

John Baille 26 tin miner.
Minnie Baille 25
William J Baille 4
Minnie and William John in the country 3 months.

Got to see the image at last and the surname is definitely Bartle. Have put in a corection.

Do you have Minnie's death certificate?  That might list her parents.

I think this might be John Bartle in the 1880 Census - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MWSC-F98  This might be his sister Lillie's death certificate - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FLVK-T2Z  The mother's maiden name seems to match the information you have.

This looks like John's death certificate, mistranscribed as Barth -
