Look-Up Request Glasgow 1922
« on: Tuesday 27 November 12 19:03 GMT (UK) »
Hello!
Researching from Canada.  Trying to find out who resided at 11 Huntingdon Place. Glasgow, on February 25, 1923. A family member traveled from Ireland and had a baby at this address; trying to see if they might have been staying with relatives (Reynolds, Morgan, or White).

Thanks for your help.

There is nothing listed in the 1922/23 Post Office Directory although that means little in itself. The 1913 Valuation rolls show that it is a tenement building. It may require someone to visit the Mitchell in Glasgow to check the records they hold there.

Thank you for the reply and looking in the directory.  What is "the Mitchell"?

Was it the mother who registered the birth?

The only entry in the 1928/29 Post Office Directory for 43 Aikenhead Road is A. Young.

Although this in itself means nothing as all of the buildings in that section of Aikenhead Road show only a single entry but were tenement buildings according to the maps and the 1913 Valuation Rolls show at least 13 tenants in that one building.

To Sancti

Yes - the person who registered the birth was the mother Mary Reynolds (nee M.C. Morgan).  The registration was for Alice Mary Reynolds. Date of birth: 25 Feb 1923. Father: George Reynolds - Post Office Sorter.  They were married in Belfast.  I have a copy of the long birth certificate - that is where I got the Huntingdon address from. FYI I was lucky and actually found a picture of #11 on-line that was taken in 1966 before the buildings were torn down (I understand from looking on the internet).

Was just trying to figure out if Mary was staying with relatives when she had the baby.
Thanks to all for any help.
