Help dating photo please

This photo is reputedly of an ancestor born in 1865.  Would that ring true given the style of clothing and any guesses as to a likely date?

 - my immediate though was someone dressed up like someone from Jane Austen!     That lovely poke bonnet!   How far off the mark am I?

That's why I was wondering if it was a dress-up job!!

 - When did they wear those bonnets - that woman looks about 40-50 maybe but I can't see any bonnets like that in the 1890-1900s -     

Can see some in Aus. in the 1850s     Different hair styles though.     (And the photo doesn't look that age!)

Sorry China, the photo is a laminated copy of the original and the person from whom it was obtained is dead. The Jane Austen references are a bit of a hoot but I don't think the family was of the type that would be involved in fancy dress things. Then again, who knows?
The photo is from Australia but surely you aren't all (not you China) suggesting that we poor colonials were that far behind the then prevailing fashions!
