JACKSON 27 Main St Baillieston - 1915 cobbler shop?

My grandfather had an older brother called Cornelius Jackson and I've always been told that he had a cobbler shop in Baillieston.  A Cornelius Jackson is listed in the 1915 valuation roll as tenant/occupier of 27 Main St.  Does anyone know where I can find photos that might show the shop or perhaps there is someone out there who remembers it of even him?

Hi Kingseat,

I have a copy of the wee book Sancti mentions, but although there's a few pictures on the Main Street, none show any specific house numbers.

I had a look at a 1960 O.S. Map which shows that the numbers ran east to west which means the low numbers would be at the Garrowhill end.

I think No. 27 would have been around the junctions of Scott Street, South Scott Street and Main Street, on the opposite side if the road from the Police Station.

Yes, we were able to view on Google maps.  This link http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/virtualmitchell/image.php?i=15638&r=2&t=4&x=1 courtesy of Mitchell Library shows the building in 1955.  By the time he retired/died, Cornelius Jackson was a master shoemaker but did he actually own the shop or just work there and rent accommodation above?

         This is a recent photo.         

         The upper half of the building looks fine to me, whereas the lower half is an eyesore and spoils the overall look of it.       Every time I pass by this corner, my mind goes back to when I was a boy in the late forties and fifties, and I passed by this building every day, going up Scott Street to the old Baillieston Junior Secondary School.

I have a friend whose gtgrandparents  John Jackson/ Martha ( ms Bryson) son's 1908 Birth address  listed  Faulds Hill Baillieston.  John Bryson/Catherine Montgomery Is this same family. Her dad  from a very large family.
