Hi

I searched my Grandad's military records - see here

and the search threw up a list of possibles but one entry listed RI(I) under rank. Does anyone know what RI(I) stands for?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question.

In order to advise you we might need just a teeny bit more information - for a start what war are we talking about?

Mostly people find help here if they tell us what they do know, who the person is, d.o.b. , place of birth, occupation etc
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

Hi N, 1970. will only hazard one guess, of the lists sent to me from the RAF, there is a RIMU which stands for Radio Installation and Maintenance Unit, I would work around that for a while, thinking maybe Radio Installation Instructor. Maybe?

Sorry, I was referring to WW2.

My grandfather, Albert Edward Easton, born 19 May 1916 in Newhaven, Sussex. Drafted into RAF. Outside wartime he was a docker.

Take a number of scrabble letters and throw into the air. When they land rearrange to form a record transcript.

The reference is to the entry in the Air Force List for F/L A E Eaton service number 75004.

Arthur Ernest Eaton survived the war as a Squadron Leader with the DSO.

Looking at AIR 78/50 which can be downloaded for free from The National Archives

Albert Edward Easton is shown as service number 1150292
