Peter and Mary Devoto are on the 1901 census, living in 84 Whitecross Street, Finsbury,London.  He was a barber, hair- and had 3 Italian assistants (live in).  The children were Ernest, Alice and Ellen.  All adults Italian Citizens.

It's best to post links between topics on different boards to prevent duplication and confusion for those trying to help.

I still think you will have trouble finding 'Alfie' in the records without knowing more details. Have you though about contacting the family of Ernie Devito mentioned earlier in this thread?

That is a possibility though  the 1960s was over 40 years ago. Would have to be someone who knows of them who lives up there probably

Bit more information on Alfie and his wife Sarah. apparantly they mived to America for a long time and lived there after marrying.Am still not sure when that was. They did come home eventually and reside in Bangor Co. Down. Apparantly when Sarah died in 1974 Alfie did move to America and remarry within 4 months to a hotel owner but he did die shortly after and he was quite a weathy man she inheritted it. Haver also posted on American thread

Apparently he had a brother called Gary who at one time had a shop on the Albertbridge road
