Mary Steadman & John Crispe
« on: Sunday 18 November 12 16:06 GMT (UK) »
I have Mary Steadman, born in Raydon in 1695.
She married John Crispe in 1722 in Raydon.
They had their family in Great Wenham.
Can anyone throw any light in their parentage?
Many thanks for reading this.
Liz

this one on family search seems highly likely given the distance Nayland to Raydon:

Mary Stedman
bap 28/2/1696 Stoke by Nayland
d/o William & Susan Stedman

It's nice to have Susan's surname. So often around this time there is no mention of the mother, and if there is, just a first name.

Diddy wisely wrote

very close to Nayland..

I have just posted a Christmas card to a friend there and the address is Wiston by Nayland - they are adjacent parishes.

Keeble is a common name in that part of Suffolk.

Regarding the Susan born Tostock, I see a '?' is that because it is difficult to read?  Tostock is such a way from the area that I wondered if it could be a transcription error for adjacent parish of Polstead - bit of a wild card though  ;)

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?
