Valapraiso, Chile........Walter Marrow died 1940

I have found some details regarding Walter Marrow who died on 1 February 1940  at Avenida Loo (or Los) Placeres 225 Valparaiso, Chile.

He was born, I think, in England about 1868.

Can anyone give me any more information regarding his death which might tell me why he was in Chile, or any relevant info.about Walter. This would  fill a gap in a family tree and close "a door"

Any possible relation to a Harold Marrow b. 1863?

At http://www.ellisisland.org there are in 1912 a Harold Marrow, 49, from Cheshire, wife Annie, 49, b. Cheshire, and a daughter Nora, 14, b. Chile - all "in transit to Cheshire". They had been living in Valpariso.

This could be Walter's brother but I'm not sure. All I know is that Walter was married to Bella Macgregor who was born in Scotland. I have found her death in 1955 as widow of Walter Marrow.
I really know nothing more apart from what I have already posted. I have no idea where he was born, although I think it was England, or where he and Bella were married. Cant find anything on Scotlands People and English records are not very helpful especially as I have nothing much to go on.
I will use your info and try to find if Harold and Walter are indeed brothers.

Have you seen this site: http://www.archerfamily.org.uk/family/marrow.htm

It says Walter was from Anfield, Liverpool. The information there also suggests that the Harold mentionned by Jorose was Walter's brother and he was (Harold) a captain in the Chilean navy.

Not sure if you know this;  Walter has an entry in the 1941 Probate Calendar (Administration (with Will) (limited).  There might be some extra information there.

Hi Kiko.... Thanks for the link to the Marrow family. What a wealth of information there is on that site. I've found my man and his brother. I guess Walter must have been visiting even thou the war was on at that time.

i may be a little off base here but  would like to suggest a wildcard...

have u looked on London / Edinburgh Gazette site....?    there may be a Marrow pdf that gives cause if in public life....

2ndly     can i be of suggestion to looking in the Scottish Newspaper collection,  or similiarly  the British Newspaper Archive....?

I found with a few of my kin they were either soldiers or clergy abroad  excepting in the cases of mass migration to canada and australia....

the old International Genealogical Index microfische may have some sort of entry that indicated church.....     maybe u could write a letter to the church and see if there was an additional anno in the death register.

i forget to mention   that Valpalraiso was a haunt for  seafaring souls   who were "seal" and whale hunters.....

in researching another topic  Valpalraiso comes up as a haunt for pirates or privateers.
