HI All
I am researching one of my ancestors, Jacob Innes(s), who was convicted in the Kent Lent Assizes on 16 March 1801 for stealing from the naval yards at Chatham Dockyards. He was arrested with four other men, including Joseph Onus, however one did escape. They were convicted to death by hanging however their sentence was commuted to life. He was then transferred to the prison hulk, Stanislaus until his transportation to Australia on board the Ship "Glatton" in 1802. He arrived in NSW in 1803.
I am really keen to try to get a copy of the Hulk Register to see if he is listed on it (ie. register for the Stanislaus) and also possibly the Register of Convicts awaiting transportation.
Also, if anyone has any history on Jacob Inness prior to his arrest, conviction and subsequent transportation would be truly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Tam
