Just a general query. I have a lot of relatives who move from the South coast to Jersey in the Early to Mid 1800s. Was there a large movement at that time, Was there a reason and does anyone know of a book on the subject. They seem to be tradesmen, Butcher, Blacksmith etc.
Killick - London and jersey and kent
Lake - Norfolk (kings lynn and district)
Burton - Northants
Asher - Northants and bedford shire
Davis - Dorset and London

Hi, that's an interesting query, I'm researching the lines of my husbands families and note that they also came to the iIsland from the UK, some coming from the South coast. I know that there's was a lot of building work going on during that time in St. Helier (the Westaway family were big in the building industry then) as I live in the Island I will see what I can find out for you.
