Well spotted on the car badge! Here's my best effort at deciphering with '/' denoting line endings:
2 Hawthorn St.
Well Dears here we are / among the coal I can’t say / we care much about the /
place its too dirty although / of course we enjoy being / with M [or all] & they were delighted /
to see us we left Home / last Sunday at 10 and / got here before 2 we shall /
probably stay a week. We / should have been at Leeds / today only its so foggy /
but shall go to Sheffield / if its clear now what / do you think to our /
d~~gs good of the Car / isn’t it love to Bob / and H and his Wife and / best love to you both
S H Riston (although possibly Nichols)
Am really struggling with the 'd~~gs' word as it's little more than a scribble

I wonder how far they would travel from Hawthorn Street to either Leeds or Sheffield? I guess they're staying nearer to Sheffield as they'll consider going there later in the day. That might help in narrowing down where Hawthorn Street was if you don't already know the town.
