Also not included in this system were built up areas as that would have cluttered up the map. There was a symbol placed on the map to indicate this – it looks like a lollipop.
I think Phil explained this in reply #3 - the 'lollipops' surround the area NOT included in the parcel number survey.

Ok so does this mean the lollipop symbol marks a boundary or a bordar? I really need to find out as the council has removed our property from the village boundary and the only thing i have is historical maps.

Can anyone help or advise

Try doing an internet search for historical OS map symbols. I found this

I did google and find something similar but it doesn't have the lollipop mark on there,

Thanks so much though as the boundary dotted line is there which is really helpful.

If anyone knows where I can find out more about the lollipop that would be great
