Hello Jeff

Family search has this additional information.

Child born 1874 John Joseph died 1916.  Married to Esther Agnes Lyons 1907 and 4 children.

That would tie in with a marriage to Martha in 1873.

Possibly Martha died and he married again?  I can see he had another child in 1877 so not much of a gap between wives.

Unfortunately I can't see all the information as another country but maybe someone will have access and be able to check.

Hi Jeff,
  Welcome to rootschat  :)

Benjamin Ilett married Arabella Revell in 11 Oct 1864 in Fen Stanton  Huntingtonshire, England  His father was Robert Ilett and her father was Thomas Revell.

The SA BDM indexes are online http://www.genealogysa.org.au/ and I see the couple had children

   Benjamin 1877
   George 1883
both with parents Eliza Arabella Revell and father Benjamin Ilett.

Benjamin junior fought in WW1 and there is a digitised record (30 pages) to read on http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/using/search/index.aspx
he says his mother is Elizabeth living in Port Pirie West (and wife had left him some years ago)

Perhaps there were more children born in England ...

regards,
   Ros

adding : Eliza Arabella Ilett is buried at West Cemetery and her date of death was 11 sep 1916 age 79 years  http://www.aca.sa.gov.au/RecordsSearch.aspx

The Biographical Index of Sth Aust has Ben ILLETT born c.1834 arrived 1875 LADY JOCELYN, married by 1875 Martha bc1836.
I haven't been able to find him on a Passenger List.   Someone else may have more luck.
Remember, the Bio Index is not always accurate  :)

From SA Archives:

Lady Jocelyn (ship)
24 December 1875
Passenger List 75/9
Volume 18

Ilett  1875  Benjamin 75/9  Vol.18
Ilett  1875  Martha    75/9   Vol.18

Who was Martha?  A mistranscription perhaps?

Debra  :)
