EAGLE family in St Margaret's Leicester
« on: Monday 05 November 12 16:16 GMT (UK) »
Please can someone help with my research of this family

From the 1841 census  604.  14/9  10.  It seems that my 2 x gt grandmother Catherine EAGLE's  parents were Jonathan and Ann Eagle and that Catherine was born c 1826.   I can't find anything at all on freereg, familysearch or the usual  pay websites.

I would really like Catherine's baptism details and the marriage of Jonathan and Ann if possible.

If there are any reliable online records for St Margaret's please can you tell me where I can find them.

Jonathan died in 1850 and Ann is shown with her son Jonathan and his family in 1851 where she is said to have been born in Oxfordshire.  Whether this is correct I don't know as 1841 says born in county.

Thanks. NC.

I have a freeby disc from a magazine that has transcribed baptisms @ St. Margaret's 1813-1878.

If your Catherine was born c1826 according to the 1841 census then I take it she is shown as being 15. So, as anyone over 15 was suppoed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 she could have been as much as 19.

There is a Katherine Eagle shown on the disc, baptised 11th April 1823, BUT, parents are given as Jonathan & Mary??

Thank you both for your help.

I am sure that will be the baptism for the right Catherine.  However I'll have to have a look to see if Jonathan was married before or if Mary was a transcription error.  Does anyone know if the marriage info is available please?

Family Trees have Jonathan marrying Ann SEDGLEY 1841.
(FreeBMD has a Marriage Reg)
One has exact date as 04 April 1841

Ann is down as Mother in Law 1851 where she is living with Jonathan c 1821.
Maybe this should be Step Mother.

Jonathan 1821ish Married Martha SNOW 1845 and then Eliza HARRIMAN 1864 (FreeBMD)

Ann EAGLE may have Married Dec 1851 as well (lots of Spouses to check out)
I tried to match up without luck. She may have died before 1861 Census if indeed she did Marry 1851.

Trish :)

Thank you Trish - all that is a brilliant help.  I will have a look around to see if I can find anything on Jonathan's marriage to a Mary and her subsequent death.

....or maybe SKS has this information to hand ??
