Hello, I am descended from William Henry. -William Henry-John Frederick ( My grandfather). Glad to meet you. I am in New Jersey. William Henry and Ida Jane ( Wood) Came to Virginia in late 1800s early 1900s.
Their son John Frederick was born in Virginia, My grandfather. His brother William was born in England and his sister Gwendolyn. I am back to Wickmere with Williams father being a Henry Laxton and His father being a Peter. I am not sure of all dates because parish registers are jumping between Wickmere and Barningham.

Hi Ellen.  We definitely share the William H Laxton. You are descended from his oldest son William whereas my line comes down from his youngest son John.  As for WH Laxtons ancestors, the one thing that always concerned me was that his census records always indicate he was born in Wickmere (with his reported age bouncing around a lot - but thats not unusual from what i understand) but he only appears in parish registers for Little Barningham. I asked around and and people have said that its reasonable since the parishes are close to each other. The LB parish record has him born in 1802 which seems a couple years off from the censuses but almost dead on when you look at his marriage licence and death record.  As for his ancestors, I have his father as Henry Laxton born Oct 16 1771. And HIS father as William. Though I know that there is another Henry that leads to a Peter. So, not sure on that and still researching

I also have a William or a Peter as his father still researching that part too. William Henry son of William Henry came to Virginia first. His mother Elizabeth Cadwallader is buried there as are his brother Frank. Do you have any idea why the family left England? We have been wondering that. Any reason for leaving would be appreciated.

Hi Ellen, As far as the reason some Laxtons migrated to the US, I can only speak for my side. John (born 1844), the youngest son of William H Laxton, came over to the US to do mining engineering work in and around Portage PA about 1879. I have a few ship records of him coming and going between US and UK. By 1900, he was living or visiting with his son Frederick, who came to the US about 1890. His daughter Eva married a Arthur Kendrick and they also lived here for some time.
