John Stevens of Smalley

Help!

I believe that John Stevens (1767-1851) of Smalley  is father to Samuel Stevens (born 1809 in Dale Abbey) but can not find any proof.

Could someone please point me in the right direction

Sorry lots of questions you have the date of death of John Stevens as 1851 but give no details.

Is this the John Stevens who was buried at Denby February 1851?

Is this John Stevens  in 1841, the only census you are likely to find him,  living at Horsley a Publican?
On this census living with him  is Hannah (assume wife) and Israel listed as aged 15 but could be aged
15 - 19 years because of the rounding down of ages in the 1841 Census ?

If this ties in with your research who are the parents of Israel?

How do you know that the John born 1767 Smalley is the one being buried in Denby 1851?

John born Smalley 23.12.1767 s/o Edwd & Sarah nee Booth.
bapt 28.2.1768.
Married Hannah Lowater in 1788
Married Ann Fox 1793 Nottingham
1841 aged 74yrs Horsley Dby
Death 28.2.1851
buried Denby.

Do not think it is either of them. What I do know is that Samuel was born about 1809 in Dale Abbey married on 17/6/1826 to Lydia Wilson and in 1851 was living in Leek and Lowe. Do not have a death date.
Parents believed to be John Stevens born 23/12/1767 in Smalley, died 1851, married Hannah Fox 12/1/1793 she was born 1776. Afraid I do not know where to search for any more information, are there any census records available prior to 1841? if so where.

JOSHUA Stevens christened 01 Feb 1828, Spondon, Derby to SAML/LYDIA

1851 they are in Staffs with, Betsy, Sam, William, Lydia, Ruth and 3 new Children, Henry, Edward +  Eliza and Grand/Daug.

1861/1871 Census has a Samuel Stevens born c 1810, Dale Abbey, Derbyshire living in St Mary and Radford, Nottinghamshire
Wife is down as Evelina/Evesbin

I am pretty sure Samuel has remarried and  the Marriage Cert will confirm his Fathers name/occp.

Also a look-up of the 1826 Marriage is a must as Samuel would be under age and the entry may have other info and at the very least Witnesses names.
