Coroner's report - what are the chances?
« on: Thursday 01 November 12 23:11 GMT (UK) »
An accidental death in 1853.  Death cert says coroner, Mold.

Are those records still likely to exist?

I think you'll find more details about the death in local newspapers than official records (which are less likely to have survived). Have you tried www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk ?

I just found this, does it sound hopeful?  I don't know how I'd get there though!

Was the death in Flintshire? You just said Wales. If in Flint, the URL you had referred to the records in Mold ().
There is a book which describes Coroners records for each county in England and Wales, giving years available and where located. The book is:

Title           Coroners' Records in England and Wales
Authors   Jeremy Sumner Wycherley Gibson and Colin Rogers
Edition   2

ISBN           0806315628,    9780806315621

Flintshire record office  enquiries and advice above ( where they are held).

"CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract: Records relating to the Office of the Flintshire County Coroner, 1818-1996, including coroner's inquisitions and related records, 1818-1969; records of the East Clwyd district, 1969-1996, including sudden death reports, 1971-1989; inquest records, 1969-1996; and miscellaneous, 1960-1968."

Flintshire records office source guide - below link will give you more details what they hold:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0s0s/
they say the years before 1916 are very scarce

If you give them a ring or an email (contact details on first link) they will be able to tell you if they have the records for that year

Hope that helpsKind regards

The death was in Dymeirchion which I believe is now Tremeirchion?  As well as the informant's name there is also Peter Parry, Coroner, Mold.

I get confused with my Welsh lot.  It seems to me the county they lived in changed from Denbighshire to Flintshire on a whim (or it could just be me!)
