Anyone know where this is in Co. Down.  I am looking for O'Neills circa 1860-1875

you are back into the times of the umbrella of Griffiths valuation about 1860's, see ask Ireland on google, but you need to search from Ginnnis,  Maginess Mc Guiness, the O'Neill search needs lots of good luck, but you should be sharing everything you know of this time frame, to get better help. Do look up Ros Davies Co Down website. if you don't know anything about townlands and civil parish, please try to make notes now

I have looked in the Griffiths and I know there is a townland named Guiness and a town named Clough.

A John O'Neill gave his address as Ginnus Clough in  his marriage record in 1875.  I was wondering if some local knowledge of the area might point me in the right direction.

Using Ros Davies map of parishes in Co Down, and the her place name index, I noted the Guiness Townland sometimes has been in  Dromara  parish and sometimes Magherhamlet parish. So the layout of the parish's that concern your query that contain  at the west end Dromara, which overlaps on its east side Magherhamlet, which in turn has on its east side –Loughinisland.  That is really a neat area for you.
So have you searched for O’Neil, O’Neiil or Neil, Neill  or even spellings like Neal etc in all the townlands of the parishes say in Griiffith and in 1901 census?
I will start having a look.  The year 1875 is a bit late for the published material of Griffiths.  he would have had to be a tenant or landlord 10 + years beforehand.If you could examine the annotated  original maps used for changes, you might pick him up by first name. Otherwise he is living withe others in say 1862. Keep going

A quick look at griffiths and Loughinisland
There is a James O’Neill on Drumaroad
There are John O’Neal in Dunture or Dunkure and others. A change of spelling by a different enumerator often happens. So this is my best clue
There are  many several  Neills in Loughinisland A change of spelling by a different enumerator often happens.
Guiness House and Clough are both on Google maps are 6 miles apart by current roads., in particular by Camreagh Road
I think its time for others to come in and help as you go onwards

I appreciate your replies.
John O'Neil's father was Arthur O Neil a farmer.  Arthur O'Neil had at least 2 sons John and Patrick. (John (born circa 1840) is the one in the 1875 marriage) John emigrated to England c 1881but 2 of his daughters were born in Ireland one in 1877 and one in 1879. John's address is given as Drin for one birth and Slievniskey on the other and his wife  Mary McAlleenan was from Derryneil (marriage cert) John was a grocer and trader in 1875. Address Ginnus Clough.
Patrick (born circa 1845) emigrated to England before 1871.
It is really Arthur O'Neil I am trying to find. (On both his sons Marriage Certs it doesn't say Arthur is dead so I am assuming he is alive) There is an Arthur O'Neill in Guiness in the Griffiths but I think he was married to Rose McCormick in 1862 so is too young to be the father of John and Patrick  There is another Arthur O'Neill married to Ellen Carlin marriage 1859 .(Drumkeeragh) This Arthur is not in the Griffiths but he is also too young to be the father of John and Patrick.  I am not familiar with this part of Co Down so I am hoping with all the addresses I have given someone might be able to help me out with the townlands and the ones I should concentrate on searching.

Do not assume this- often father not noted as deaceased when in fact he is dead.
