Paige family of Devon
« on: Wednesday 31 October 12 15:59 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the early history of the Paige family which originated in Plymouth and South devon as early as the 14th.C. probably  originally being a branch of a Norman french family.
As well as Paiges in South devon there was a family in North Devon mentioned as early as the 17th. C., has anyone researched their earlier history in particular connecting them with the early Plymouth Paiges who were mostly called William or John and were successful merchants.
I should mention that apart from errors in transcription from early documents, Pages without the I ar not normally related as the root is completely different.
Thanks in anticipation of your interest

Hi nigelpaige,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

At least one Rootschatter is researching Paige in the Plymouth area (Tamerton Foliot). Just click on
'Surnames' above, and follow your nose to identify them and make contact.

Note that many Rootschatters do not declare their interests via the surnames feature, so it might
be worth asking a mod to move your post to a more useful page, possibly a general Devon page.

Good luck with your search.

Hi Nigel,

I have just started researching my family history in South Australia. I recently visited Devon and found a lot of my ancestors buried at St Georges church in Modbury.
