Can anyone help me find information about the parents of Anthony (Antoine on one census) Horace Knowles and Ann Shaw who married in Rotherham on 16th March 1835??
He seems to be a bit of a mystery man since I can't find his birth anywhere either..apparently listed as coming from 'foreign parts' in 1811 and eventually as Colnbrook, Bucks..but no luck there either!!    ???

Have you seen the entry on the BMD Nonconformist site for what I'm assuming is his son, born in Paris?

www.bmdregisters.co.uk

James Horace Knowles 1836 son of Anthony Horace Knowles.

Its from RG33 - register of births and baptisms in Paris 1816 to 1844. I'm afraid you have to pay to see the original.

I've looked in Colnbrook PRs - no Knowles at all. It might be worth looking at Langley Marish PRs - very near Colnbrook. I have some families whose baptisms alternated between the two. Sorry - I only have the marriages.

HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Thank you Jill. I have had quite a break from research and hadn't come across the non conformist site...it may solve a lot more problems for me too! I'm still not sure if this is the same Anthony Horace, although the date seems right. What on earth was he doing in Paris in 1833?? Apart from fathering a child with a domestic....
