Swedish records - Victor Vogt
« on: Monday 29 October 12 08:02 GMT (UK) »
Anyone out there speak enough Swedish to understand the Swedish BMD records?

I am trying to trace Victor Vogt, born Switzerland 6 Jul 1888, Scarborough in 1911 Census and Stockholm at some point after that where he was a chef.  Any advice welcome!

Hi,

The City Archives of Stockholm have a database, Rotesarkivet, which eventually will cover all inhabitants of Stockholm 1878-1926 and if you search for Victor Vogt, you find that he lived there at least from 1921 to 1926.

He is also found on the DVD "Swedish Death Index, 1901-2009" . He died in Oscar parish in Stockholm on Sep, 8 1938 and he was married at the time of his death. According to the Rotemannen, he was married to Lilly Astrid Valborg Lundin, b June 21, 1894 in Svinnegarn parish, Uppland and she died, according to the "Swedish Death Index" on Nov, 27 1962, also in Oscar parish.

I searched in the moving records and it seems that he came from Switzerland to Stockholm in 1917 and you find him in the records over people moving to Oscar parish, vol BI:12 (1917-1917) on page 369 and January 29.

Thank you. That is really helpful. Do you know if there are any Swedish records which would allow me to identify any children of this marriage?

I looked at the church records for Oscar parish and there is a son, Viktor Louis, born on Sep 27, 1926 in Klara parish, Stockholm and who died on Aug 29, 1995 in Sollentuna parish, Uppland.

There might be children born after the family moves to Oscar parish in 1930, but to find them, you have to either go through the birth records for Oscar parish (available online up to 1942 via SVAR or ArkivDigital up to 1941, both for a fee) or order the estate inventory of Victor Vogt, via the City Archives of Stockholm.

Sorry for the delay in replying but thank you once again. I will explore the possibilities you have raised.
