Gissing Parish Records -missing on familysearch?
« on: Sunday 28 October 12 21:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I have been using the familysearch copies of the Norfolk Parish Records online however Gissing does not seem to be there? Anyone know why this is? Is the Norfolk Parish record collection on familysearch not complete or were the Gissing ones destroyed or covered by another village???

I have found that the AT for Gissing is there but only starting in 1725 whereas I am interested in the earlier period.

Many Thanks,

Sarah

Hi Sarah

Norwich Record Office hold the original and microfilm copies of the following records for Gissing

Baptism 1540-1542, 1562-1639, 1684-1983
Marriages 1562-1639, 1705-1992
Burials 1539,1551, 1562-1639, 1702-1935
Banns 1754-1983

http://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/view/NCC098323

So it looks like they haven't been copied yet by Family Search

regards
yokel

I think the earliest that FamilySearch has for Gissingham is 1691.  This is the extracted records.  The site doesn't have images for every parish or for every year.  :(

Thanks guys for coming back to me.  That is a shame as I don't live in Norfolk so that hampers my research for the time being.  :(  But at least now I know what is available for future reference.
