Barnard marriage licence
« on: Wednesday 24 October 12 19:41 BST (UK) »
Hi.
Could anybody do a lookup for me regarding a John Barnard and a Mary Barber. They were married by licence at the parish of Belton, 1785 on the norfolk suffolk border. Belton was at this time in suffolk, although now in norfolk, but it came under the norfolk archdeaconry. I have the info. of the marriage from the parish register, but now need the info from the licence.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Roger

There seems to be no sign of this wedding in the FamilySearch.org database, which indexes many marriage licence records from the Norfolk courts (see the Research Wiki article at https://www.familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/England_Norfolk_Marriage_Bonds_%28FamilySearch_Historical_Records%29).

However, I think you will find that Belton was in Suffolk until 1974 and under the jurisdiction of the Archdeaconry of Suffolk up to 1914, so I’d recommend starting with a search of that archdeaconry’s index at the Suffolk Record Office.
