They are from Scotland. Alexander Christie. I am on ancestry but can not seem to get any clues on this. Please if you can help...I would appreciate it!!

Hi apple666 :)

Can you give us a bit more information about what you are looking for?  For example, who is Alexander Christie - what is your relationship to him, what dates are we looking at, do you know where in Scotland we should be concentrating on looking....etc.

Hello again Apple 666

Perhaps if you rename this thread, on your original post, with the name for which you are searching.

e.g.  "Alexander CHRISTIE  in   . . . . .shire"  it might make it more eye-catching for those wishing to assist.

Hello again Apple 666

Perhaps if you rename this thread....

That's my fault - I should at least have renamed it to something Scotland-related!  I've now done that, but apple666 can still modify the title if they want to.  :)

apple 666

The online indexes to births and baptisms at SP www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk list 1684 (yes, that's one thousand six hundred and eighty-four)  Alexander Christies, and that is without spelling or name variants.  So if you are going to find out about your one, you will either need to be extremely patient, or you will need to tell us a little more about him  ;)

Forget about A******y. It doesn't have any original documents for births, marriages or deaths in Scotland, though it does have census transcriptions which (barring notoriously weird renderings of names) can be handy in tracking down the originals on SP.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Prue,

Do you think apple666 will recognise new heading, and as they only have 2 posts may not be familiar with "Show new replies to your posts." So they might think there post has disappeared?

Thank you. I am so new to this site I could not figure out how to use it. I kept trying to email someone I wanted to talk to actually names Pittyman67 cause someone told me they thought we might be related. I am used to using ancestry.com and never thought of this site.

Apple666 seems to have found what they were looking for.

Hi ev,

Thats good, thought a new user may have been a bit disorientated with change of heading. Was it a PM that you got the quote from?
I am in sunny Orlando at the moment, so will catch up at odd times.
