royal marine 1870s alverstoke help needed
« on: Monday 22 October 12 22:44 BST (UK) »

Hi all,

I have a mystery i really need help solving.

Edward Harkins Born 1842 wigton - Carlisle Cumberland, i have him in carlisle in 1851 and 1861 then in 1871 his in the census listed as a private royal marine in alverstoke his unmarried. But that is all i know. I am wanting to try and get a hold of his service details and also i Cant find a death certificate and as im currently living out the country its made it impossible for me to actually find anything else out.

I would ideally like to know when he joined? where he went and what happened to him?

If any one can help i would be greatful

It is a bit of a mystery given that RM records are online at Kew and he doesnt appear to be there maybe its mistranscribed or lost!
He doesnt appear on RM Medal indexes as they are on Ancestry
