I have a query..
I have been researching the McGeehan family from Drumnaha, Fintown.
I have found the family that I am looking for on the 1901 Census family but they are not on the 1911 census.
Patrick McGeehan my great great grandfather is on the 1901 census with his wife Mary (Nee - Doherty) and their children Patrick, Condy, James, Peter, Mary and Michael (Neil is staying with his grandparents when the census was taken).
Between the 1901 census and 1911 census Patrick and Mary had 4 more children called Rose, Francis, John and Kate. Mary the mother died in 1908 shortly after Kate (Kitty) was born.
I can't find any of the family on the 1911 census except for Kate who was 3 years old and she was staying with John and his wife Nellie McKelvey and John's sister Sarah McKelvey in Meenmore West. It is stated that she was a visitor at the time.
I am fascinated at how nearly a whole family can disappear with no trace. They did reappear later dotted and I have traced quite a few of the descendants from this family.
I have also toyed with the idea that Patrick left Ireland with the kids but have not found them on any passenger lists etc. I will keep trying though.
If anyone recognises this info and can shed any light on this mystery please feel free to help..
