Yes that Ann is mine, so if correct that makes us  4th cousins 2 times removed.

There are two Mary's and two James's. I haven't research Ann's brother John, he married Mary Smith I beleive?
It is a 'funny' time to research, just before civil registration so you have to look at PRs and by the time the 1841 census their children have left home and many of them had died anyway, so unless you have access to the actual parish records researching is difficult.

Unfortunately I now live in the US so it's difficult to get local access. The good news is the Mormon church has done a lot of gathering and made their records available throughout the world via their Family History Centers. They have been my main source of information.

Recently I've subscribed to a newpaper site which has provided a lot of good historical and anecdotal information. Way back when, I had a Whitworth-Larkin marriage, then 100 years later there's a news report about a Whitwork, Larkin, and another name I recognise getting in trouble for something or other.

I'm not sure if you wish to swap GEDCOMs if you have one? My software does honour "living" and either you or I can remove any media that you wouldn't want available. I think it's valuable to merge our research so that more people have a better chance of linking together.

Thanks,
Nigel

Hi Diddy,

I have all sorts of She(e)pshed links in my family. The male lines married (going from as far back as I can find) into Hadden, Lakin, Smith (who doesn't have some of those), Wardle, Hall, and Simpson in my direct line. If you happen to have any of those knocking around in your files, I'd be interested to hear about them.

Let me know if you're looking for anything in particular since I've been reading a lot of the archived newspaper articles, so you never know when I might come across a name.

Thanks,
Nigel
