Grierson and Vallence family from Avondale

Hi,
I am tryign to find out details about my Great Great Great Grandfather  and Grandmother. They were  John Grierson and Janet Vallence who got married in Avondale on the 03/04/1847.

Familysearch.org has the marriage and childrens births, Freecen.org.uk has the family on the 1851 Census,  John 58 his wife Janet 25 son John 2 and dau, Isabella age 1 ,all living in Townhead Strathaven
could this be them.

1851 John is born c 1793, Ballins Millon, Kirkcubright and 1861 c 1795 Ballmaclothan, Kirkcudbrightshire.

All these Children Christened Avondale. Jean may have died.
Sarah seems to be a Servant with the Allison Family in 1841 in Avondale.

Robert may have remarried to Elizabeth WISEMAN, 17 Dec 1841, Avondale

1851 Census I am sure he is mistranscribed as born c 1830, Mauchline, Ayr, occp Toll Keeper/Carter.
Children are the same;
James 1828
Alexander 1835
Robert 1840
As the is no image to check this is just my opinion.

Do you have any connections to Canada?
A Robert Vallance died in Ontario in 1875, born c 1799 Scotland.

This fits with this and Census;

Just adding to all the info that has already been found. There is a Trust Disposition and Settlement document showing on the Wills and Testament section which can be downloaded off Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which includes:

John Grierson, 27 Sept 1861 residing in Townhead in Parish of Avondale, wife is Janet Vallance or Grierson, children are John, Isabella, Jessie, James and Adam Grierson. Glasgow Sheriff Courts - Wills, ref. SC36/51/42

As already mentioned, you can download the death certs for John and wife Janet Vallance. This should provide you with confirmation of their parents' names to let you work back with confidence.

You don't mention who you are descended from. There are marriage details here for son Adam - www.myainfolk.ca/records/show/4917
