Maggie had a sister born 1895 at New Blyth called Jeannie. She also had several other siblings born in King Edward and New Blyth.

A Maggie McRobbie b 1888, and a Jeannie McRobbie b 1895 sailed on the Corsican, arriving at Halifax, Nova Scotia on 27th Feb 1910. They are down as English, which may be a mistake, as they are going to the same place as an Alex Hay, who is Scottish. They are down as "domestics".

Maggie and Jeannie are in the 1901 New Blyth census, but not in the 1911 one. There is a 4 year old Maggie in the 1911 New Blyth census, but that's obviously not her.

Husband given as Charles Stewart Morrice , death given as 1939

It also looks like Jeannie returned to Scotland via Liverpool in Dec' 1913 on the Empress of Britain.

thanks everyone for your help that now explains why i couldnt find them in scotland as  had tried meny searches on sp to find them but no joy thats why i asked on roots. hi malky the jessie ann mcrobbie that was 4 years old in the 1911 cen was maggies daughter who was illigitamate and it looks like she was brought up by her grandparents but i dont understand why if she let the country why didnt she take her daugher with her

Thousands of Scots left home at the beginning of the last century,emigrating to Canada,America etc. in the hope of getting a better job. They often found that life was not as rosy as they'd been told & living  & working conditions were hard. When they did eventually settle they would send for their nearest & dearest to come & join them. This was the case with my Grandad's siblings. He was the youngest of the family & felt they'd had better opportunities that he did. Perhaps Jessie Ann was so used to living with her grandparents they thought it best not to send her abroad. Remember it would've been difficult for her mother to work with a child in tow & no grandparents to childmind!
