Latest update on this one after failing to find anything on immigration, , death, death at sea, alien travellers into the Uk (yes alien), travel, wills, tax, land, 1871 census, records. Decided to home in on the 1881 census as that's all I have. Looked at all the local area of households origin of birth and occupations of clement St, Liverpool in 1881 and it looks like there is a pattern. If you were a seaman/mariner you would have been most likely be born abroad. On the same street as Charles Wood's widow were mainly seamen origin of birth East & West Indies being head of their households. In particular Trinidad kind of struck a chord with me, as when googled on maps Trinidad is in the ''Port of Spain''. My friend said well their colour is very dark, I replied not necessarily there is a light and dark skin tone in all cultures, black, Asian, French, Italian etc. Could it be that the family story has become twisted & re framed over time passed through the generations from Charles born in area of Port of Spain to Spain. As looking at all of this street and surrounding street households Vauxhall street and another street beginning with B. None originated from Spain. The very most they originated from Liverpool or Ireland (Dublin or Wentford) and tended to have typical occupations to that area of Liverpool as Carter's, general labourer's, Dock labourer's, and women either housewives or seamstresses. Another ship occupation was a female cook from Nassau West/ East Indies, and ship carpenters but they tended to come from Liverpool and only two other seamen one from Holland, and the other Isle of Man. Nothing from Spain. Hm, and I finally getting warm ?
