Census Property Names
« on: Saturday 13 October 12 11:50 BST (UK) »
I have just solved a little problem which brought up something I had not thought off. Just in case it helps anyone else am posting it here.

My sister is doing some work in her house which is Victorian and was wondering who had lived there before so asked me to search the census. When I looked for the address I could not find it, in fact I could not find the road.

She had the original deeds which shows the address and it was still as it was now so the name of the road had not changed.

It was only when she gave me some more details from the document that it was solved. When the house was built it was given a name as were all of the others in the street.

All of the houses on the street were recorded under the house names not the street name. I was then able to find what I wanted.

Hope this helps someone else.
