grace brenda bailey australia
« on: Friday 12 October 12 14:19 BST (UK) »
Hi there.
I am looking for grace brenda hennessys ( nee bailey) family.
Grace came to australia at a young age in 1912 from england with her parents beatrice and ernest bailey and young sister edith also on the trip was her aunt amanda morris who is my grandmother born 1894.
They settled in manly nsw
I think grace passed away in canberra ACT in the late 1990s or 2000.
Info I am chasing is graces children, where they were born and what year, also a clarification grace brenda husband may have been frederick William hennessy?
Grace may also have just been known as brenda as stated on my grandmothers death certificate.
I appreciate any help I can get.
Thankyou...:-)

Hi debbi
Because of Australia’s strict privacy laws regarding people still living, and the associated policy of  Rootschat, the children you are seeking will not be discussed  on the public board.

I thought you may be interested in some Electoral Roll findings .

1930
1 Melbourne Street, Manly
GRACE BRENDA BAILEY, packer

1936
29 Crescent  Street  Manly
GRACE BRENDA BAILEY, Packer
ERNEST BAILEY, Carpenter
BEATRICE BAILEY, HD
(There is a JAMES EDWARD BAILEY at 27 Crescent Street )

1943
34 Birkley Street Manly
GRACE BRENDA BAILEY, Packer
BEATRICE BAILEY, HD
COLIN BAILEY, Draftsman
29 Crescent Street Manly
ERNEST BAILEY, Carpenter

1949
34 Birkley Street Manly
GRACE BRENDA HENNESSY. Clerk
FREDERICK WILLIAM HENNESSY . Motor Driver
BEATRICE BAILEY.,  H D
29 Crescent  Street Manly
ERNEST BAILLEY Carpenter

1958
Eurella Ave. Seaforth
FREDERICK WILLIAM HENNESSY, Motor Driver
GRACE BRENDA HENNESSY, HD

I do not see GRACE registering to vote after 1958. (Others may do better in spotting her)

One of the many reasons for this may be that she found a new partner and used his surname as her own.

A marriage  ???

REG 21029 In 1944 HENNESSY, MARY ELIZABETH
To ARMITSTEAD, GILCHRIST MELBOURNE
At ASHFIELD

Bit confusing, but if it is the woman previously with FREDERICK perhaps she married a realtive.

Hi again..looking at the electoral rolls..
Beatrice m ernest in england before coming to australia.
Grace brenda m frederick William in australia.
Edith (graces sister) must have moved out of home at a young age or passed away.
I didn't know about Mary,so that was interesting.
Amanda morris (beatrice sister,my grandmother) I found never married but at 38 yrs of age quietly adopted my father out to a police sergeant and his wife.he was stationed at bawgowlah police station.he and his wife couldn't have children.so a bit of mystery there.we have a sort of an idea that my father was really the police sergeants son,as they never had any more children, and my grandmother never married nor had any more children.
Now I have most information with all your help guys.
My main question now is how do I find the family of my great aunt?
Thing is they may not know my grandmother had a baby and adopted him out.
I would love to find photos of my grandmother, beatrice, grace and edith for my album and my history..im not sure how to even look on the net.
Than you very much for taking the time out in looking up and answering my query....:-)

I am not doing any family tree research I was just sourcing dates of death of my grandparents for medical history perspective and your query popped up.  The information you have sourced already seems to read as if it is to do with my family line.

So I can confirm the below information as being correct for my family as I know it to be true.

Brenda (my grandmother) die in 1980, in a nursing home in Goulburn NSW after living with us in Canberra briefly.  She had emigrated from England as a toddler with her family and they did settle in Manly.  My Great grandfather was I believe a master carpenter.

Edith (Eddie), lived into her 80's passing away in Nowra, where she lived a majority of her life, despite two marriages she did not have children.
Brenda married Fred, they had one daughter (my mother) now unwell to the extent that this won't be mentioned to her.  Brenda never remarried post Fred's death, in 1958
Fred's previous marriages obviously aren't of any relevance to your search, although I understand he was widowed and possibly divorced.
Mum has discussed growing up with her grandmother (known as Kellie) living with them.

If this is your family line, then I am sorry to say there are no images due to them unfortunately being destroyed.

Not much more to add as mum's family tree investigations (done years ago) hit a brick wall pre-Australia.
