Hi Vasacat...

You did a lot of Research on my behalf and I thank you.

After re-reading what Info you sent I can Understand why you are so confused...So am I.....Too many similar names and your Reference to the 1865 Atlantic Cable keeps cropping up.

I will have to dig a little more into the Family History...

If you find anything more for me then I would be extremely grateful...

Will let you know how I get on with the Family Tree OK?

Regards

Brian.

In the 1861 census, John Turner Wright snr (at that time aged 35, and married to Mary Harriet) has a 'Mary Wright, aged 67', in his household, and described as his 'mother-in-law'......which I'm not sure I understand.....

At that time, 'in-law' often meant 'step'.  This confused me the first time I came across it - head of household had a 'son-in-law' aged 5 ???
The boy turned out to be the wife's son from a previous marriage, so today we would say the head had a 'stepson'.

Hope this helps,
Carol

Sorry Vasacat, where are my manners ::) - should have said Welcome to Rootschat :)

Hi Vasacat....
Hi Vasacat.

Still going through the Info you Posted for me...Lots to Research but you kindly provided some very useful data...

I see that Carol answered one of your queries which I was going to bring up about the "stepson" so I say THANK YOU Carol...Now understand why you were confused...

I`m still a little confused about the 1770 link...My sums still do not add up....So I will have to do a little bit more research into that area..

Anyway, forgot to Welcome you to Rootschat...Hope you have many happy hours doing your own research.

Brian.

Got some more Info....

You know you told me that Edwin Payton Wright married again, in London, to Amy Dollman and had 6 more Children,
Well, here is a list of them, and all Confirmed by Baptism Etc;

Amy Beatrice Wright....Born in 1861
Edwin Payton Francis Wright....Born in 1863
Edgar T Wright....Born in 1866
Mildred Eleanor Wright...Born in 1868
Katherine Horsfall Wright...Born in 1870
and finally
Henry Noel Payton Wright...Born in 1871

Amy Beatrice Died in 1951 aged 90...What an Innings.
Edwin Payton Francis....Still have to do some more Research on him.
Edgar T...T stands for Trafford, forgot to mention that..Anyway, more Reasearch needed.
Mildred Eleanor..Died at the age of only 4 years..So sad.
Katherine Horsfall...More Research needed.
Henry Noel Payton...Died 1898 at the age of 27 in India...Need more Info on this.

Still a lot more Research to do but, as British Rail says, we`re getting there.

Only one query I have...Who was Mary Wright?? Mentioned in the 1861 Census as living with John Wright and Mary H Wright??
Says she was Mother in Law.   But to whom???

Any Ideas??
