Errors excused!  And I was only trying to help, not criticise!

You will get better, probably very quickly.  Especially if you read posts from the more experienced people on RootsChat  :) :)

I`ve done a lot of reading on this Subject and I have still not got got an answer to my question as to the Founder of the company..

I am told that it started in the 1880`s  and all info supplied, up to now, is the Atlantic Cable of 1885.

OK....I have researched this and find that John and Edwin Wright were involved in the scheme.....
All the Wrights Ropes Ltd Advertisements stated "Founded in 1770"

The Founder was???? in 1770.....This is all I ask...

I keep getting Info for the 1885 Atlantic Cable...

Who or where can I search for the FOUNDER ???? 1770.

Brian.

My brain hurts now as I think I am hitting my head on a brick wall.
Hope someone can remove the brick wall..

No more reference to the Atlantic Cable of 1885 but results as to the Founder of the Company OK?
No Idea as to what the Company was called when Founded nor any Info as to the Founders name..
Hope someone can help.
Help Please.

I have another little bit of info....

From GracesGuide.....

John and Edwin Wright of Universe Works, Millwall, Popular London and Universe Works, Garrison Street, Birmingham.

Company Established in 1770.

Company Registered on 4th February 1899 to take over the Business of Cable Manufacturere, of a Company of the same name.

There is a bit more of Info contained thereinbut it seems to be irrevelent to my research at this time.

"Company Established in 1770"...This is what I was trying to get at....Who was the Founder in 1770????

Where do I go now ???

Brian.

Seems that the Company Registered in 1899 was called Wrights Ropes Ltd so I assume that the Founder Company had the same name as the Company it replaced or am I wrong?

Hi,

In the 1815 Wrightsons Triennial Directory of Birmingham  found this

William Wright~ Rope Maker~ Aston Street.

In a 1777 Birmingham Directory, these are the rope makers in Birmingham listed

J Backhurst
John Fellows
Peter Fellows
Thomas Gilbert
Samuel Walton.

In 1770 Samuel Walton was a rope-maker on Moor Street, none of the other men are listed as ropemakers in the '1770 Streets and Inhabitants of Birmingham'.
