May I please ask what NSW BDM certificates (or official transcripts) you currently hold?

Cheers,  JM

Hi Bob,

I am somewhat confuddled, as in your inital post I understood you to explain you had records, and I had presumed you had a copy of the NSW marriage certs at the very least, thus confiming you were on the right track with your Jesse and Mary Ann.   May I please ask where you have found that your Jesse was the son of a William and Mary Ann Pearce without having a copy of the marriage cert for Mary Ann Spilstead....   I see on the NSW BDM index this marriage :  Jesse PEARCE and Mary A SPILSTEAD, registered Blayney in 1893 (#2294).

To me, the details of a marriage registered in rural NSW prior to 1895 would most likely have been recorded at the NSW BDM's head office in Sydney based only on a summary report, and thus would not have included all the usual details found on the local register.   Thus most likely the NSW BDM's 1893 ledger would NOT have the names of the parents of the bride and the groom, nor the ages of the bride and the groom, nor the occupations of their fathers.   It ought to have the status of the bride and the groom, thus it ought to show if the Bride and or the Groom had been previously married.

So, I think you may need to spend a couple of pennies (around $Au18 last time I checked) and start with that marriage certificate for the status of Mary A SPILSTEAD, (ie spinster, widow, divorcee).   If this were my family I was researching,  I would only seek out an official transcript of that 1893 mc, and then I would follow my usual practice which I outlined on a thread here at RChat.

I hoping for some help with William Pearce & Mary Ann Pearce, I have found William Pearce & Mary Ann Butler marriage 1873 Bathurst, NSW, no record on NSW-BD&M in the name or date...if this my William & Mary Ann, they had 5 children 2 boys 3 girls all the district of Bathurst, NSW, my interest in William & Mary Ann Pearce, is form there son Jesse Pearce marriage to Mary Ann Spilstead, I have most of Jesse & Mary Ann Spilsted record.
But I have hit a brick wall on Jesse parents early life, not sure if one or both were born in Australia, or overseas,  ???any further details on them would be appreciated.

My interest is in the Spilsted name, All my information is form the free Internet & kind people like yourself freely giving their time.
Again Thank you for the help.

Are you looking for help with SPILSTEAD from around the Blayney district circa 1893?  On the off-chance you are, I will have a look at my offline resources.   There's so much more to be found OFFline than via any Internet search.

Cheers,  JM

Bob,

It is clear from the registration already given that ZACHARIAH died a year earlier than you have stated. He died 1932

It is clear the name of the wife of WILLIAM was SARAH ANN BUTLER.

In my reply # 5 I have asked you to list the names of the other children to the couple if you know them.

There is a reason for the request and put briefly, it may help in a search for the origins of SARAH and WILLIAM whom you have said are your people of interest.

Are you able to oblige here?

Sue
