1841/51 census help please
« on: Saturday 28 May 05 23:58 BST (UK) »
Looking to see what i can find out about Jacob Kurn b.1789 Worpleston, Surrey and Jane (Maiden name unknown). Want to know about their children? Know they had Peter b.1834 Woking, Surrey, but did they have any others? The surname is spelt wrong a lot so could be under kern/kerne/kearn, etc

Any help greatly appreciated,

Shannon Fuller

Hi Shannon,

I have had a look on the 1841 census for Woking and found the following:-

HO107/1080/7 folio 7

Sanders Lane, Woking

Jacob Kearn        50       Ag Lab
Jane Kearn          45
Henry Kearn        16       Ag lab
Jane Kearn          11
Peter Kearn           8

All of them were born in county.

On the 1841 census adult ages were generally rounded down to the nearest 5 years.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Magrat

1851 Woking
(from an index - family groups shown, no address, no relationships)
HO107/1594/87r
Jacob Kearn age 61 b Worplesdon
Jane Kearn age 60 b Woking
Peter Kearn age 17 b Woking

A number of other Kearns living in Shalford, but don't seem to bear any relation to those you mention.  If you want further details, let us know.  ;)

Hi,

Thanks both for that, would be quite interested in the other Kearns as these could possibly be relations? Also, is it possible to find out where Henry and Jane (Junior) went to in the 1851 census?

Kind regards,

Shannon
