Anyone living in or near Chelmsford Essex?
« on: Tuesday 09 October 12 18:56 BST (UK) »

Would you be so good as to do me a great favour and take a snap of my Grandparents gravestone? I have the plot number and a map I can email via P.M.

Cheers,   Tony. :D

Just a thought Tony but have you checked deceased on-line and find a grave?
Find a grave allows you to post a reqest for a photo, if you put the grave details in their database

Good morning Hugatree,  are the two sites you mentioned available for a 'one off' request or do I have to 'enroll or register'?  "Find a Grave"  isn't really relevant, as I know where the grave plot is.

I'm trying to keep the forums down to a minimum,.

Cheers,  Tony.

Hi Tony

Yes you need to register but with Findagrave you can log the burial and plot number and then put in a request for a phot.  Local volunteers pick up the requests, as and when they are visiting, to provide a photo.

You should search both sites anyway as whole cemeteries have been loaded by volunteers, so there may be a photo already.  You don't need to register to search them

Good luck

Hugs

Hi

The burial guide on the Essex Rootschat board gives you direct links to the Essex section of such websites as Find a Grave so you can easily see the coverage so far.
People living locally might spot your post more easily on the Essex board than on this more general enquiry board. I can move your topic to the Essex board if you wish.
Before asking for such a lookup have you enquired of the cemetery or already kinow for sure, whether a gravestone was erected?
Presumably the cemetery you mean is Chelmsford Cemetery and Crematorium, Writtle Road? There are two other older cemeteries in Chelmsford.

Thanks Valda for that informative reply,

you thought correctly in that I had sent an email to Chelmsford Crematorium and Cemetery Team and received a pleasant reply back informing me of the grave number and section.  They were kind enough to confirm this is my Grandfather and Grandmother's grave as the death location of my Grandad matches up with the information I have tracked down.

Thet were also very kind and also emailed me a map showing how to get to the cemetary and a plan of tha grounds showing in which area My Grandparents were buried.  I should be pleased if you could 'shift this plea' to where it may catch someone's eye.

Cheers,   Tony.
