This looks to confirm the correct death as looking at census records Laura Elizabeth is his daughter -

William Wilkins of Headington, butcher and farmer died 14 Dec 1893. Effects left to Laura Elizabeth Wilkins spinster.

JJ, this is the correct death. His daughter Charlotte married my great-grandfather, William Greening, who was in the same line of business as her father.

As for birth year, it is pretty consistent (1810-1812 so av 1811) if you take out the 1881 cnesus year of 1807 as an aberration.

Kimbrey you're a star. This is definitely the right family as my great-grandmother was Charlotte Holiday Wilkins.

Apologies.  William Wilkins was buried in Headington Cemetery, aged 80, of 'Old Headington'.    19 Dec 1893.   'Farmer and butcher'.  (Occupation ties in with census).

I was looking in Headington St.Andrew cemetery, where his wife was buried.

Burials ceased at Headington St.Andrews in 1885.   Headington cemetery took over from 1885 to 1946.

John Wilkins(of Milton) married Charlotte Holliday.  16 Jan 1796 @ Asthall.

Asthall is about 4 miles south of Ascott/Milton/Shipton under Wychwood.

John Wilkins(widowed, of Milton)) to Ann Nunny(of Milton).  1 Jan 1781, @ Shipton U Wychwood.  (I guess a second marriage, dependent on first wife's death).


Possible marriage for Robert Holliday.

Robert Holliday(of Lew), to Mary Pauling(of Asthalleigh),  5 Jan 1761 @ Asthall.


Lew is about 7 miles South of Shipton U Wychwood.
