This looks to confirm the correct death as looking at census records Laura Elizabeth is his daughter -

William Wilkins of Headington, butcher and farmer died 14 Dec 1893. Effects left to Laura Elizabeth Wilkins spinster.

JJ, this is the correct death. His daughter Charlotte married my great-grandfather, William Greening, who was in the same line of business as her father.

As for birth year, it is pretty consistent (1810-1812 so av 1811) if you take out the 1881 cnesus year of 1807 as an aberration.

Kimbrey you're a star. This is definitely the right family as my great-grandmother was Charlotte Holiday Wilkins.

Apologies.  William Wilkins was buried in Headington Cemetery, aged 80, of 'Old Headington'.    19 Dec 1893.   'Farmer and butcher'.  (Occupation ties in with census).

I was looking in Headington St.Andrew cemetery, where his wife was buried. :-[

Burials ceased at Headington St.Andrews in 1885.   Headington cemetery took over from 1885 to 1946. ;)

Possible marriages for John Wilkins(senior).

John Wilkins(of Milton) to  Sarah Maddox. 29 May 1766 @ Taynton.

John Wilkins(widowed, of Milton)) to Ann Nunny(of Milton).  1 Jan 1781, @ Shipton U Wychwood.  (I guess a second marriage, dependent on first wife's death). ;)

Possible marriage for Robert Holliday.

Robert Holliday(of Lew), to Mary Pauling(of Asthalleigh),  5 Jan 1761 @ Asthall.

Lew is about 7 miles South of Shipton U Wychwood. ;)
