Hi, I am currently researching Cameron family tree.  I am related to Alexander Cameron m Eliza Marks in Australia.  I am currently searching for Alexanders family back in Scotland.  As Alexander was murdered in 1854 there is very little evidence to go by.  His birth year is 1803 to 1807.  Currently we are looking at an Alexander Cameron that was sentenced in 1819 and was sent out to Australia on the ship "Asia".  Is there anyone out there that is either missing an Alexander Cameron or may know about this particular Alexander that was shipped to Australia.

If you want to go down the route of possible trials and transportations, a good place to check is on the National Archives for Scotland site (now renamed the National Records of Scotland) www.nas.gov.uk/onlineCatalogue/

I searched for an Alexander Cameron between 1818-54 (not sure when your Alexander Cameron married over in Australia but you can adjust the fields).

For example, there are a couple of references in 1819 to a few Alexanders:

For the crime of illegal assembly - Alexander Cameron, banker, Address: Bell Street, Airdrie

For the crime of theft and robbery - Alexander Cameron, thread miller, Address: Prisoner in Glasgow, formerly Paisley

There are numerous more entries to work through in these years.

Alexander Cameron married Elizabeth Marks on 4 July 1836 at St.Thomas Port Macquarie,​ New South Wales.
Groom born 1807. Age 29. Bride born 1812. Age 24.

There is also an Ancestral File on FS which states....

Hi, I have the court records for the Alexander Cameron that was sentenced in 1819 but no where in the records did it state who his parents were.  I was hoping someone out there may know who his parents were.
