I have finally received the evidence that you probably already had that confirms that Robert is the s/o Edward and Mary and that Mary's last name was BRIXTON.  But I can not work out your jump to Winchester.  Do you have a marriage for Edward and Mary in Winchester that you could give me the details?  On the 1841 Census Edward states Yes to the question about birth in Surrey, and in 1851 he states he was born in Surrey.  I know this is not definit if, like his son Robert, he has lied about his birth origins.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards
Ronnie

To the best of my knowledge I have the following; Hannah Boxall born ? Mar 1787 and bapt.25Mar 1787 in Tillington to Edward and Jane? Boxall, who married Thomas Puttick 18 Apr 1803 in Tillington. The question marks are in because the micro fiche is not very clear.

Hi, I checked my database and I have Hannah b.12 Mar 1787 daughter of Edward BOXALL and Jane GREENFIELD.  But I do not have a marriage for her, at least I had not linked her to the marriage with Thomas Puttick in 1803 but it is a likely match.... there is another marriage between a Hannah BOXALL and Thomas PUTTICK in 1819 in Fernhurst I wonder if there is any connection between the two marriages.  For the second marriage one or both had to have consent of the parents yet they were both of age.
Kindest regards
Ronnie

Hi,

My late mother-in-law was Antonia Ivy Boxall;  the family lived in King William's Town, South Africa.  I am not sure of the father's name, but there were three daughters - Antonia Ivy, Doris and Edith.  The only connection to the U.K. I have is a story about a Boxall relative who played the violin at a command performance for Queen Victoria in London;  his violin was a Stradivarius (it turned out to be a fake when we took it to Sothebys!) - this violin was later donated to a museum in East London, South Africa.

I have not looked in to how they came to be in South Africa;  I think they must have migrated sometime during the 1850's or later.  I do know that the father married a lady of German descent, one of the many German settlers who came to this area of South Africa at that time.

Ivy Antonia married Ronald Nettleton Gordon and they had two children, Raymond Garth and Margaret.

Cheers,

Tisy
