Clack/Clark Clanfield, Oxon.
« on: Thursday 04 October 12 16:53 BST (UK) »
Please, can anyone look up a baptism in Clanfield, Oxfordshire.
I am looking for the baptism record of George Clark/possibly Clack, son of Thomas.
My 2 x Great Grandfather was George Clark, born abt 1831/5 in Clanfield, Oxfordshire.
The first siting of him is in 1861 - he is a lodger, age 26, from Glenfield (?) Oxford staying in Walton in Gordano, Somerset.
He married Isabella Richards in 1863, father's name given as Thomas.
The surname Clark is thin on the ground in Clanfield, so I am wondering if he was Clack ?
Any help appreciated......

Have checked the OFHS's parish register transcription CD for Clanfield, but no record of a George CLACK/CLARK(E), s. Thomas, baptised there between 1829 and 1837 (inc.)

However, their Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837) has the following:

29 OCT 1821 - Thomas CLACK (of Clanfield) to Sarah BUSHIP at Black Bourton

Perhaps your search should continue at Black Bourton?
