Hi, Hope someone will be able to help me, im researching for a friend whos grandfather was called Harold George Baker, he was born around 1911, i have information that he was in the army about 1943-1948 , army details are ,t/92348.pte Baker HG523 Armoured Brigade Coy, RASC W/S Platoon CMF. Can anyone desipher what this means and is there anyway i could get his records?

I'll leave the details explantion to someone more knowledable but his army records would still be held by the Ministry of Defence. Depending upon when he died (I'm presuming he is deceased) his full records may only be available to his living next of kin. The link below has details of how to apply

He was Royal Army Service Corps
His records will be with MOD you will have to have a death certificate when you apply for them they cost £30 and a long wait
Have a look at the Veterans Agency. Website for service records the forms are on there.

Having trouble tracing my 2 x  gr.grandfather  Edward Bowen the only info i have on him is from his daughters(Margaret Bowen)) marriage cert of 1870 he is listed as an Army Pensioner.The marriage took place in the Parish of Clonmel (church of Ireland) Co.Cork there address is given as Queenstown, so....  will there be a record of his pension being paid to him in Ireland ? and where is the best place to look with so little info.................has me stumpted where to look next  ???

His records will be in the National Archives at Kew. This is the basic research guide from their website; it has links to other guides:
