1861 look up . Martha Mastin. Linconshire
« on: Saturday 28 May 05 14:48 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate the family of Martha Mastin. She was born in sleaford/selford Linconshire in 1841 and married William Artliff in 1863.  They then moved to Sheffield, Yorkshire. She died in 1920. I have all the information from her marriage onwards. Martha and William are the very top of my tree and I am having troubles getting any further back, Thank you,,,,

ARTLIFF, William   Age:   20   Marriage
   Wife:   Martha MASTIN   Age:   22
Marriage Date:   3 May 1863   Recorded in:   Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England
         Collection:   St Botolph
   Husband's Father:   John ARTLIFF
   Wife's Father:   William MASTIN
Source:   FHL Film 1542050   Dates:   1746 - 1876

I think I have found her family in 1861 - Mastin and Martin look very similar in 19th century writing:

2358/22
5 Albert Place, St Botolph, Lincoln
William 57 Gardener, Notts Newark
Ann 56 Notts Balderton
Betsey 25 Dressmaker, Newark
Martha 20 Laundress, Sleaford
James 16 Gardener, Quarrington
Fanny 4 Scholar, Heckington
Mary Ann 1 Heckington
John Eggleston (nephew) 21 Moulder of iron, Newark

(Fanny and Mary Ann are "daughters", but not presumably of William and Ann!)

Hi, I know it is a while since you made the request but believe that Martha's
brother William is in my tree - infact my 2xgreatgrandfather.

Please get in touch.

Trish Graydon.

Hi Trish - welcome to Rootschat! :)

abbie doesn't seem to have been on Rootschat since last January, so may not see your message.  She never replied to mine.

Perhaps if you send her a PM (Personal Message) it may get through.  Click on the little scroll to the left of her message.  If you wish, you could send her your e-mail address ... but don't post it on the message board.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.
