Yeah, I'd recommend you contact them cos they should be aware of times when their site's gone down.

I'm on it every day, more or less! And it does have its moments... for about an hour yesterday it wouldn't load images, but then it behaved again. It's definitely been worth £75 to me. It sounds like a lot, but I have so many family in Essex, and was born there too, so it's fab. I'd LOVE it if Suffolk did the same thing.

I was hoping that other county record offices would see how Essex RO had their parish records online and would think it a good idea to copy.

My annual £75 subs. expires next week and I'll be re-newing it straight away. It's been worth every penny for me, although I was hoping more would have been added by now.

 :)

It's odd that Essex is apparently unique in doing this. You'd think, with the drive for digital preservation, that there'd be more people doing this.

The digitised wills are quite good too, although more, like with the parish registers, would be good too!

You should find that your subscription has been credited for any time that Seax was down.

The good news is that the update of Seax will begin this month and be completed by mid December, also the Waltham Forest area register's are going to by added in 2013.

Fab news! Yes, where can we find out which places and what years are being updated?

Probably by manually checking each parish through the normal route.  You don't have to be subscribed to do this.

I hope the Waltham Forest Archives parishes do appear on SEAX as need to view quite a few of them.  Hopefully they'll digitise some more Wills in due course.  I've been holding off ordering some but I may have to bite the bullet now and pay for a paper copy.  I had heard rumours the remaining Wills would probably be the last to be uploaded but who knows.

It's definately been worth the money, a few brickwalls have fallen.  Hopefully when FindMyPast get the Hertfordshire PRs online a few more brickwalls will fall since some seem to be floating between counties rather a lot. ::)

Hi,

I'd be over the moon if the ERO would digitise the Essex Boyd's Marriage Index and put it on the SEAX system, it would be so great to be able to have access to it.  I suspect something of that nature is way down on the ERO's priorities though, so the Index on SEAX probably won't happen in my lifetime, not enough years left  :(   ;D.

Regards.
