Owen McDevitt(Mcdaid) - help Please
« on: Sunday 30 September 12 14:22 BST (UK) »
Hi
can anyone help please

Owen Mcdaid Father John, mother Teresa (Grace) Granny) born abt 1860 Fallask, Donegal married in approx 1883 ( show themselves as 24 years married in 1911)  Bridget McKinney ( Abt 1860 -). I think this marriage was in Woburn MA, I cannot find it and think maybe names may have been mispelt in USA?
I cannot find passenger records for either of them ?

Their first son John was born 9 Mar 1888 Woburn MA BUT their second son was born in Mar 1890 in Donegal and so were the rest of their children.

Can anyone help please with passenger records out to usa and then back to Ireland and the marriage in USA.  Thank you.

Found a record for a marriage of Owen and Delia McKenney in 1887 but John parents are not correct.

Hello Triathlon, this is my maternal great grandfather.  It seems a few things got mixed up, but I can tell you that Owen Francis McDaid was born  27 Apr 1866 - Fallask, Buncrana, Donegal, Ireland to parents William McDaid (1831-1909) and Bridget Doherty (1840-1868)
He went to America in 1886 married Mary Ann Kenney  18 Apr 1892 in Woburn MA.
Owen and Mary Ann had 13 children, with their first child (Delia) born in Woburn in 1893.  All of the rest of the children were born in Lexington, MA (on the family farm at 1 grove st, lexington).
He died at the farm (with his boots on I am told) on 06 Jun 1949 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Winchester, MA.
In the USA, Owen is known as McDevitt instead of McDaid, and is sometimes spelled McDavitt as well.
I hope this helps!
