I am doing research of a family in Sunderland and I am wondering if there is a site for enlistment in the Boer War.

Thank You

If you are interested there are articles about the Boer War from  Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette, in the British Newspaper Archive. http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ It is a subscription site.

The possible names that I am lookimg for are

Thomas Henry Richardson born abt 1877 in Sunderland Durham
The son of Thomas Henry Richardson & Jane Dunsmuir Richardson

Robert Walker Richardson born abt 1878 in Sunderland, Durham,
   The same parents

Albert Richardson born abt 1884 in Sunderland, England
   The same parents

I found one of them in W.W. 1 and I am wondering if any serviced in the Boer War.

Tom

If they had an army record, it would state if they had already served in an regiment prior to their service in the ww1

Hi there,

There were many Thomas Richardson's and Robert Richardson's in the Boer War I would think Albert would have been too young.  Here is the link to a very informative site on the Boer War, you can search by surname, perhaps you know the regiments they would have served in.

Good luck

Perhaps it would be easier to rule them out by checking the 1901 census. If they are on there, then they won't be in Africa  :)
