She was wondering if there was anyone in that area that has access to the records to find his parents.
Sorry

The only person who seems to fit is Alfred Sykes, born in Whitwick in 1886, who married Jessie Freeman in 1905.

He died on 29th December 1961 and probate of his will was to Ernest James Fox and James Lawrence Gee.

He would appear to be the son of Joseph Sykes, born c1851 in Thringstone or Whitwick, and Zillah or Zellah, born c1857 in Whitwick.

The marriage looks like Jul-Sep 1876 in the Ashby area to Priscilla Jays, presumably shortened to Zillah.

Next door in 1881 and 1891 is a Gee family, which might be related to the person in his will.

Something that you may know already, Zillah Jays/Jayes was the daughter of William and Hannah (nee Williamson)

Children:-
Harriet 1853
John 1854
Zillah 1857
Lucy 1860
Elizabeth J 1865

A tree on Ancestry has William's father as John Jayes b 1797 and Hannah Howe b 1803

Hello Jan, I'm new to the site. My grandfather was Richard freeman and I remember Jessie at the rose &crown would welcome any contact regarding Richard, he married lilly Parker and they too lived in thrinstone 1912_1917.
Never realised my grandfather had so many brothers / sisters.
