Thank you both your info is spot on. Would I get a copy of all these at proni. I've tried griffiths valuation but can't see them.. I suspect Edwards marriage was indeed before 1864 as John was married in 1880. Do you think Edward's info stops there?. Any sign of johns death.  Mary Dalton was just down as living in Dungannon town at time of marriage but is virtually untraceable also, se was possibly in service, my grandfather always said her name was D'Alton. I know that whoever filled in forms ie:- priests or registrars usually spelt it the way they felt right.

You can search for John's death in the online Irish Civil Registration Index at www.familysearch.org. Goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties so if he died at home after 1921 will not be listed.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Aghadowey, youre a feast of info. I stumbled onto Edwards death I think,1901.aged 68. That would be why he wasn't on the 1901 census..i know he and his wife were buried in Moy.

The familysearch.org is a great site..I've managed to trace Edward, down as Shiels, his wife Mary.. Prev Devlin. Also a few daughters . One of whom were baptised in Benburb. That would be Clonfeacle parish I think..I'm very excited about this as i actually only live 4 or 5 miles from there.. But never really knew where they were from, just what my mother had heard.
